Post the Third

Happily, both of the schools I applied to accepted me. I'll be getting my Masters degree in Philosophy from San Francisco State.

Right now, I'm just trying to keep my motivation up during my final quarter at my current school. My school is on the quarter system, and goes year-round, with approximately week-long breaks in-between quarters. I'll be graduating in June, and won't start grad school until August. This means I get a summer vacation again!

I'm taking some great classes right now: Moral Values, Mysticism, Philosophy of Law, Modern Logic, and (a G.E. class) Women and Literature (which I don't mind, since I'm a former English major).

I'm trying to decide where I want to focus my efforts during grad school. At the moment, my main interests are in Ethics, History of Philosophy, and Philosophy of Religion. I just hope I manage to figure it out once I get there!

Post the Second

I'd originally meant to update this once a week or so...

I'm graduating in May. This is completely surreal, as I've been in and our of college now for six years. I may be receiving a Bachelor's in what most people consider a completely useless subject, but it's one that's made me happy.

I'm at a point where I'm sitting around, waiting to hear back from graduate schools, and hoping that I get accepted into a Master's program. There are only two local programs, and I've applied to both, as my husband's not really interested in moving. This wasn't an easy decision for me, but he's not likely to find a job in his field much outside the area, and his happiness is important to me.

I'm hopeful, but dreading rejection.

Post the First

I recently started at CSU East Bay after finishing two years of GE at Ohlone College in Fremont. I began as an English major (concentrating in Literature) and briefly flirted with switching to Psychology. I quickly realized that doing this would soon bring me to the point of requiring the services of a psychologist for myself, and dropped the idea. Then I made a huge mistake and took an Ethics class. I immediately fell in love with it and, after taking Modern Philosophy and Logic classes, decided that I needed to double-major.

I enrolled at CSU East Bay where I am currently studying British and American Literature in the English department and Science, Technology, and Values in the Philosophy department. I plan on graduating in about two years, and then continuing on to graduate school for Philosophy with an emphasis on Applied Ethics.

While all I've talked about here is school stuff, I intend to use it as my general blog, so expect beauty product reviews and general griping about life.
